What do Cannibalize and Phoenix do?

There's a dearth of documentation on them. Well, really none....

cannibalize is a hot or heal over time that is available to demons at level 10. Phoenix is a self revive avaialble only to demons. Both skills require souls however...at this time phoenix is disabled in the game so...My advice would be not to take it.

Is cannibalize an area effect or affect just the caster?

Cannibalize only affects the caster.

Cannibalize only effects the user yes. It's a heal over time. It's not very good and costs 5 souls. It's really not worth the cost in souls for what it does IMO.
Phoenix is the auto-revive ability for demons and is completely worthless. None of the auto revive abilities work presently due to abuses of this in the game. (mainly by nekos and vampires) so these were all turned off.

Cannibalize also counts as a support skill which, because tank armor has a cooldown as long as its duration, is completely unusable for the only class that I think might be able to get some real benefit from a slow, expensive, heal over time. Effectively negating the tank's only advantage (if you really want to call it that) for a little bit of healing is just suicidal. ohhhhh wellll

I like the idea of using cannibalize when you are fighting medics, since you hardly need to use malice. but a long c ooldown, during which you can't luck-9 makes it useless I guess

Cannibalize is the Level 10 demonic version of the vampire power: Black Regeneration. If your Cannibalize works like my Black Regen, its probably a little slow to get it working, and not generally useful for short term, one-on-one battles, because in my case it gulps 3 blood points.

However in large battles with plenty of bodies to spread around the damage, Cannibalize is worth it because it helps you mitigate some of the long term effects of battle while Healers can occupy themselves with ressing fallen comrades.

A good example of this is during some of our large assaults on the city, where healers often get tangled up having to defend themselves and Res our fallen members. Black Regen worked for me because it even restored the stamina loss I was eating from enemy skills and running.

Biggest problem is the cooldown time, and the fact that it is a slow starter of a power. If you've got enemies in your face, beating on you, its not a good time to pop it. However if you can neutralize them for a short time (Healer dropping Entrap, or DPS dropping Garotte, or Tank doing Warcry) its good to give you that second wind you might need.

I'd honestly like to experiment with it more to find a good use for it. Only with the 50 person limit in place, it seems the days of large Brood assaults on LA proper have come to an end. Maybe useful in the maze, since you can probably get a wall or obstacle between you and an enemy to buy you a little time.

Which is something else to consider: Wracking in battle. Is it viable? If I Feed, I deal damage and heal up a little (and its an offensive skill so I can pop Black Regen right after since its support), but it kinda nukes my offense for a full minute. I'm assuming Wrack has a similar problem?

As for Phoenix, well look at the bright side. At least its not your MAIN racial power as is the case for Vampire Revive, or Neko Nine Lives. Those two races are both shafted until the self-revives are fixed.

If I recall correctly, Wrack does 25 damage to health and to stamina. It's pretty nasty against someone who has less than 200 of each. Against anyone level 4 and above, it's not worth putting your daze or curse on cooldown. Generally, the only time I would use Wrack in battle is if a. I'm certain I couldn't close the fight with something else, b. I'm not putting myself, my teammates, or the victory at risk by putting all my dazes, weakens, or curses on cooldown, and c. I desperately need the soul. In other words... never.

On that note, I did use it often as an attack way back when I was level 4, and infirm lasted 2 minutes instead of 10 seconds, and I was fighting another tank, as it, like pretty much everything, ignores tank armor and the 25 stamina hit was rough on a low level tank who was trying to fit in all his own overpriced tank powers. (did you really think I would let a CCS thread go without taking as many jabs at the tank class as I can?)

Same as Nikki. I used wrack a lot in fights when I was low level, and also because as a low level healer it is practically the only offense skill you have.
I still use it in fights in particular circumstances: when I get involved into a fight with a sore looser who will keep coming back at me until he or she wins, and I am low on souls, making it impossible to use Malice. Then, I choose the moment and place where she can beat me, and just use wrack during the fight to rebuild my souls count. It does not happen much, as I am not a very skilled ccs fighter, and prefer building up healer skills. Until I get NT-14, haha.

Well, some feedback on Cannibalize, Malice and Wrack. As a healer, with no self buff: if in melee, I am dead. If dazed, I am dead. Even against someone half my level. So curse is my best friend.

With the new cooldown times, I now like to use Malice Wrack Wrack Wrack Malice Wrack Wrack Wrack, etc...

If the curse from Malice lands, there is time for three Wracks. And Wrack catches a running opponent easier that melee hits. And it attacks also the opponent stamina. And you store souls for next, keeping the possibility of two consecutive Malice if the first curse does not land. And it brings you nearer your opponent, allowing a few melee hits.

If the opponent resists the Malice curse twice in a row... Well, does anyone have a solution for me?

As of Cannibalize: it neutralizes Wound or NT quite effectively, even NT14.

If dazed, I am dead. Even against someone half my level. this happens to any and everyone, it is the way thigns are, If (I) am dazed ....... dead.

Cannibalize is actually quite nice now. In fact, I'd recommend using it over any and all the Tank Armors pretty much all the time. A healer doesn't have any other skills to take up the "support" cooldown, so there's no reason not to use it. DPS... I'd still use luck. there's no need to heal when your opponent is dead.
